"No, life cannot be understood flat on a page. It has to be lived; a person has to get out of his head, has to fall in love, has to memorize poems, has to jump off bridges into rivers, has to stand in an empty desert and whisper sonnets under his breath... We get one story, you and I, and one story alone. God has established the elements, the setting and the climax and resolution. It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn't it?"

Questions for God

Monday, December 14, 2009

When I can't sleep, this is what I think about:
  • Why do fish look so weird?
  • Do you have a favorite moment in history?
  • How many stars are there?
  • So, really, how many hairs do I have on my head?
  • Are unicorns for real?
  • What really happened to the dinosaurs?
  • What were you thinking when you made the platypus?
  • Do you have a favorite place that you've created?
  • Where's Waldo?
  • Are there aliens?
  • Before you created Eve, were there female animals?
  • What brings joy to you?
  • How do you fit the universe in your hands and still know everything about me?
  • When I get to heaven, can I fly?
  • Why did you make wasps?
  • Do animals go to heaven?

And this is why I love you. Well, one of the reasons anyway.
